The right wheels and stance can make or break the look of a car, butunless you've got top-notch Photoshop skills or a friend who works for awheel company, it's not easy to realistically picture differentcombinations on your car. That's where HOT ROD can help. The newInteractive WheelShop, available early in 2007,allows you to try different wheels on vehicles selected from a librarythat currently has more than 200 cars and trucks, and many more will beadded in the near future. Though it allows you to pick real wheelofferings from manufacturers, it's not a fitment guide; it's just a wayto try almost any wheel on for style and change offsets, wheel size, andride height. You can even change the color of the vehicle to approximateyour own car.
Hardtop wagons were a short-lived phenomenon in the late '50s, adding pillarless style to otherwise stodgy rides. They went over well at first, but then the chrome-laden '58 Buick Caballero Estate Wagons sold about half as well as their '57 predecessors. Even so, Keith Bright of Bright Built Hot Rods in Salinas, Kansas, wanted one as the flagship rod for his shop. His grandparents had a '58 Buick Century in his youth, and that big, bulleted chrome grille stuck in his mind.
